Why I love Photographing You and Your Dog
Each dog has its own personality and how it acts, thinks, and feels. Photographing You and Your Dog, showing the unique relationship is what I love to do. It is a connection you really can’t put into words, but you can capture it visually. It is magic to see the love shared.
Dogs are unlike any other animal. They have this sense of tuning into their owners and those who love and adopt them. They will try their best to please us, to make us happy. They truly love us more than they love themselves.
But what happens when your dog gets sick, injured, or even lost?
My Why... My Chumley
Too Soon...
The thing about losing a pet is it isn’t just the death of the pet; it’s the helplessness as they go towards that process…In the weeks leading up to Chumley’s passing, I watched him change. And I was consumed with how I could help him. Could I help him in some way to get stronger and keep going? Have you ever experienced that? I felt so helpless as I heard the vet’s words, “There is nothing more we can do.” My heart sank, my eyes filled with tears, and then full-out sobs. I felt so alone standing in the Dr.’s office – even though I was there with my other dogs and husband.
Faithful Companions
When Chumley was healthy, it never occurred to me that I didn’t have a special photo of us to record the moments I had with him. Something that highlighted the fun of playing, walking, throwing toys, and taking him with us in the car to explore his favorite dog store. And, even more, something to show the soulful love Chumley gave me, not to mention his support and love no matter what my day was like. It is said there is no faithfulness like that of a dog. I have experienced that. Have you?
Absence Makes the Heart Grow Fonder
The truth is, I didn’t think that someday, Chumley wouldn’t be with me. I never let myself go there. I lived in the moment, enjoying him. But the day he died, it felt like my heart broke into a thousand pieces.
The last look he gave me while I held him still brings tears to my eyes. My heart still aches.
Unlike People, Pets Need Us to Survive
Our pets only have us for everything: food, water, a walk, or a treat. They only have us to share life with, what we do is often what they do. They adapt and go with the flow. They wake up when we do and go to bed when we do. And they cannot survive without us.
Comfort and Solace
When I was a child, I was bullied in school. It was really hard, and I didn’t want to go to school, but peace often came while spending time with my dogs, who loved me unconditionally. Esquire and Judge. They were the dogs I had when I was a child.
Dogs don’t care what color your hair is, how much you weigh, or what you’re wearing that day. They are just happy to see you. They love to experience you. They can tell when you are having a bad or good day or anything in between, and they are there for you. Always.
My Why
In Chumley’s final days, I realized I had no professional photos of us together. Sure, I have cell phone photos, but nothing really special to commemorate him. That realization, combined with my love of dogs, plus the grief and sadness, were the ingredients that created All About Pupshots.
I didn’t want anyone else to be without photos of their heart and soul.
To share this special moment in time is my passion. And I will do whatever it takes to get the right shot. If you want to shoot in my studio, your home, or on location, the sky is the limit.
Let’s get together and capture the unique bond between you and your dog and create a lasting treasure.
Photographs keep memories alive. And this is why I love Photographing You and Your Dog
